□ Name: Shizuo Heiwajima

□ Journal: reallyhatesviolence

□ Series: Durarara!!

□ Canon point: Just after his fight with Saika's children

□ History: http://durarara.wikia.com/wiki/Shizuo_Heiwajima

□ Personality: First, a little Japanese lesson! 'Shizu' means 'quiet', and 'Heiwa' is the word for 'peace'. Therefore, Shizuo Heiwajima must be a quiet and peaceful guy, right?

Not really.

The most distinguishing trait about Shizuo is that he absolutely cannot control his temper. Even the smallest of insults or most trivial annoyances can send him flying into an explosive rage, and chances are that everything around him will be destroyed in the process. The first time this anger emerged was when he was 9 years old, and he attempted to throw a fridge at his little brother for simply eating Shizuo's pudding. The episodes of violence came often after that point, and hasn't subsided even at his current age of 24. Most people have grown to fear him because of this, and combined with his super-human strength, he is known as the toughest guy in Ikebukuro.

However, Shizuo doesn't relish in this at all. He absolutely detests violence and only wishes to live a normal, peaceful life. At first he attempted to contain his rage, but it quickly became apparent that controlling himself wasn't possible, he grudgingly stopped trying. He doesn't actively seek out fights or situations where he'll lose his temper, only getting involved in problems which concern himself or his friends, and will even try to remove himself from whatever situation is causing him to grow annoyed. Still, it's hard to avoid every little scenario that can send him over the edge, so often he'll snap and send people flying. One day he wishes to grow strong enough to have the ability to control his anger, but so far that has yet to happen. The only time when Shizuo accepts and embraces his unwanted power is when Saika's children appear before him, stating that his strength is the reason why they love him so much. Not wanting to let down the only people who have admitted that they love him, Shizuo goes all out and beats the shit out of them, stopping only when Anri takes control and forces them to stop attacking people.

One of the other facts about Shizuo is that he's a very lonely person. The person he cares for most, his little brother Kasuka, is often distant and busy because of work, and so they are unable to meet up and talk most of the time. Because of his terrifying strength and anger, he has very few friends and people he can talk to, as those who get close to him are ultimately scared away. The friends he does have know how to be careful around him and avoid turning his wrath on them. He has never had a girlfriend, since whenever he went out with a girl Shizuo would ultimately end up hurting them as he tried to protect them. In the end, he learned that while he desperately wants to be loved by someone, he in turn can't love anyone because he will undoubtedly lose control and drive them away.

When he isn't out of his mind with rage, Shizuo is a pretty mellow person. His face and eyes are said to be gentle, and do those who don't know him he is even described as 'docile'. He also isn't that complicated of a person. He detests people who use large, complex words and ramble on about trivial details, and has split his own world up as being filled with people who either piss him off or don't. While not being the most intelligent person, letting his instincts and anger take control rather than thinking of a situation logically, Shizuo knows not to make himself look worse in circumstances where he is framed to look like the bad guy.

That's not to say he doesn't possess any form of logic at all, but the sort that he does use is rather twisted and not at all normal. When people manage to piss him off, Shizuo will often try to justify beating the crap out of them using this form of logic. An example is when the serial killer Hollywood and Russian assassin Igor are fighting, and they use Tom's briefcase as a weapon. Shizuo happens to see this and automatically reaches the conclusion that they're attempting to rob them and make them starve to death, as the briefcase was actually full of money. This is the justification he uses in order to knock Hollywood halfway across the city.

The main target of his rage is Izaya Orihara. Ever since their first meeting in high school, both boys have been attempting to kill one another, and every time he sees the other man Shizuo attempts to crush him under something heavy. However, even with his hatred toward Izaya, Shizuo doesn't actively seek him out to kill him. In fact, Izaya is the one who often initiates the fight, and Shizuo really only starts it if Izaya has been attempting to hurt one of his friends. Proof of this is that Shizuo knows exactly where Izaya works, but doesn't actively go there unless he has a very good reason to. While he wishes for the other man's death, Shizuo has stated that he would be just as content to let Izaya live as long as he leaves Shizuo alone and they can live separately from one another. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to every happen, and so he will be attempting to murder the information broker whenever he can. It should also be noted that, while the mention of Izaya is enough to send him into a rage, Shizuo doesn't hate or go after those who associate with him. His hatred for Izaya is directed solely at him, and he knows to separated that dislike from everyone else, including people like Izaya's sisters.

□ Age: 24

□ Gender: Male

□ Appearance: A good-looking, lanky young man with bleached blonde hair and brown eyes. He is often dressed in a bartender get-up and blue sunglasses. Height: 6'. Weight: 154 lbs.

□ Abilities/Powers: The most notable one is his super-human strength. He is known as the strongest man in Ikebukuro and has been known to throw vending machines and kick cars around like soccer balls. Rather than it being due to some supernatural element, it is instead explained that Shizuo's body has evolved itself during its years of uncontrollable anger and intense aggression. Since it wasn't able to keep up with his outbursts and heal itself, every fiber in his body instead began to strengthen itself so that they wouldn't have to heal.

Along with that, Shizuo seems to have faster than normal healing and a dulled sense of pain. When shot through the leg and stomach, he can continue walking around afterwards without much of a problem, and the only explanation is 'because [he] can'. He is also a master of parkour, a skill he picked up from chasing Izaya around, although ironically he has no idea what parkour actually is.

□ Personal Items: A pack of cigarettes and a lighter, several bartending outfits, blue sunglasses, his wallet, and a cellphone.
